Context

Understand the connection between endodontics and restorative dentistry.

The oposum. team believes that every dentist should master the means in which endodontics and restorative dentistry intertwine. Thus, our course is an unique oportunity to master different techniques of restoring Class II Cavities and, on the other hand, the fundamentals of the endodontic treatment.

Endo in the Morning

Meet your

Amazing Lecturer

Dr. Ștefan Jitaru is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy „Iuliu Hațieganu”, Class of 2010. He started in 2011 his residency in endodontics at the Faculty of Dental Medicine Cluj-Napoca. Since 2011, Dr. Ștefan Jitaru has limited his practice to endodontics, being among the first doctors to use the dental operating microscope in endodontic practice.

His entire professional vision is guided by raising clinical and educational standards, being one of the most active Romanian promoters of the use of magnification among dentists. Thus, in 2015 he founded the online community „Endo Focus” and, since then, he is the host of ”Endo Update” – the largest endodontic event in Cluj Napoca (www.endoupdate.ro).

Since 2015, Dr. Stefan Jitaru is lecturer and trainer for postgraduate courses in the country and abroad regarding root canal preparation, ergonomics and treatment under the microscope, approaching cases with perforations, fractured needles, calcified canals, root fractures. In 2017, Dr. Ștefan Jitaru was one of the co-founders of the „Training Center in Dental Microscopy”, a unique educational hub in Transylvania, where together with Mb Dental Institute he offers courses to dentists who want to specialize in endodontics, his reference course being „Microscope Master”.

His scientific activity has resulted in the publication of several scientific papers studying his topics of interest: the use of bioceramics for complicated endodontic cases, the application of ergonomics in endodontics under the microscope.

Dr. Ștefan Jitaru carries out his clinical practice within the MB Dental endodontic network in Cluj Napoca and Târgu Mureș where he offers endodontic treatments under the microscope, both for his own patients and for difficult cases referred by other dental colleagues.

Endo Content

This part is designed for novice dentists taking their first steps in clinical endodontics who want to be able to handle routine cases, meaning endodontic treatments with a low to medium degree of difficulty.

Theoretical Part

The course aims to lay the theoretical foundations for these clinical situations so that the practitioner will know (at a theoretical level) the full range of solutions possible through the practice of modern endodontics.

Therefore, the theoretical part will cover the following topics:
→ How to establish diagnosis and prognosis in endodontics;
→ How we do case selection;
→ How we point out CBCT scans and how we navigate through them;
→ How we develop an endodontic treatment plan and communicate it to the patient;
→ How we install an effective anaesthetic;
→ How we isolate with a dam;
→ Design the access cavity to minimise the sacrifice of dental tissue;
→ Negotiating dental canals;
→ How to determine the working length;
→ How we instrument and how we establish the apical diameter, how and why we irrigate;
→ Root filling;
→ Communicating with the patient, post endodontic treatment medication and evaluating the progress of treated cases.

Practical Part

The practical part consists of carrying out a complete endodontic treatment, from carrying out imaging investigations, making the access cavity, determining the working length, preparing the canals, irrigation, endodontic obturation, radiological evaluation.

The course aims to be practically applicable for those who take it:
Dam isolation of teeth requiring endodontic treatment;
Negotiation of root canals;
Safe and effective rotary and manual preparation practised on plastic prisms for easier visual understanding;
Endodontic irrigation and the usual solutions;
Obturation of the endodontic system.

2nd Part

Resto in the Afternoon

Meet your

Amazing Lecturer

Dr. Marius Bud is a graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry in Cluj-Napoca, class of 2002. He continued with various research internships at the Universities of Leuven (Belgium), Amsterdam and Paris, and since 2009 he has been working in the Department of Conservative Dentistry at Cluj-Napoca University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Here he coordinates the student scientific circle of restorative dentistry. He is author and co-author of several books and articles published in international journals.

Every year Dr. Marius Bud gives dozens of presentations and workshops on restorative dentistry (direct restorations) and digital imaging/CBCT to doctors from the country, but also from abroad (China, Sweden, Belgium, Portugal, etc.).

Dr. Marius Bud works in the MB Dental Cluj-Napoca clinic, applying the concept of „microscope dentistry” also for restorative treatments (fillings, prosthetics), being one of the pioneers of direct restorations under microscopic control.

Restoration of second class cavities can sometimes be a clinical challenge requiring appropriate restoration of the contact points in the lateral area.

Theoretical Part

Working techniques are constantly being improved to achieve clinically optimal results, shorten working time and simplify the technique.

The use of appropriate instruments and materials, knowledge of theoretical concepts and the most important tips & tricks can lead to successful direct restorations. These will be the main topics of this course.

Practical Part

Participants in this workshop will practice the centripetal technique of restoring class 2 cavities in order to correctly restore contact points in the lateral area.

Each participant:
→ will restore a class 2 cavity using the Palodent system;
→ plus with Teflon-coated metal sector matrices, titanium rings and plastic icons;
→ will apply the centripetal proximal wall restoration technique with a compactable composite (NeoSpectra ST) combined with a bulk fluid composite (SDR);
→ occlusal morphology will be achieved by the cusp by cusp technique.
